Don't Starve Shipwrecked - Equipment Guide

DLC Version: 171292

Beginner's Tips:
  • For PC version, the items slot are bind with number key.
(E.g. press 1 to use / equip item in the first slot)
  • Make use of this to swap your equipments
  • There are 3 types of equipment: Weapon, Body, Head.
  • Body slot can equip Amulet, Backpack or Armour, but you can only equip one of them at a time.

[Tier 0 Equipment]
Axe, Thatch Pack
Same as RoG or vanilla, Axe is the goto weapon in early. DO NOT use Machete as weapon, because it cost more Flints but deals almost the same damage (both take 4 swings to kill a snake) and both has the same durability.

New players usually don't know about this backpack in Shipwrecked, Thatch Pack (cost 4 Palm Leaves) can be crafted at any time. So, when you have an axe, chop down 4 Palm Trees, then you will have your extra 4 inventory slots.

TOTAL COST:
Flint x1
Twig x1
Palm Leaf x4

[Tier 1 Equipment]
Spear, Backpack, Log Suit
Basically you want to build the Science Machine when you found enough gold but haven't found the ideal island for a base. Or, you found your island but not enough gold. So, this is a Tier 1 situation.

First most, craft Backpack, Spear and Log Suit.

Spear is much better than Axe with 3 swings to kill a Snake, and has higher durability, making it more efficient use of Flint.

Log Suit is need for protection during combat, plus it can be used as fuel or crafting Cactus Armour (Tier 4) regardless of how much durability left.

TOTAL COST:
Flint x1
Twig x6
Cut Grass x4
Rope x3
Log x8

[Tier 2 Equipment]
Spear, Umbrella, Backpack, Football Helmet, Snakeskin Hat
Once you settled down on a base with your Alchemy Engine, you start crafting, exploring and finding more resources, like Pig Skin, Silk and Bone Shard.

Umbrella
Prevents wetness when using along with Straw Hat, as both are needed to craft Dumbrella at Tier 3

Football Helmet
When having extra Pig Skin. Otherwise you will need to rely on Log Suit for combat protection.
Has 35% Water Resistance.

Snakeskin Hat
Need Straw Hat to craft, allows player to kill Jellyfish without getting electrocuted, prevent lightning strike when exploring and prevent wetness when chopping tree during rain (Tree provides 40% Water Resistance + 70% from Snakeskin Hat).

RESOURCES:
Pig Skin (1 for Umbrella, 1 more for Football Helmet)
Silk (2 for Umbrella)
Straw Hat x1
Snakeskin x1
Bone Shard x1

For Bone Shards, if you unable to find any Skeleton or Treasure (X Marks The Spot), then you can use a rabbit Trap to catch Crabbit, then let it spoil to become Spoiled Fish, then hammer it to get 2 Bone Shards.

[Tier 2+ Equipment]
Blubber Suit, Seashell Suit, Sleek Hat
To endure Hurricane Season and Monsoon Season easier, you will need better equipments.

Blubber Suit
100% Water Resistance , but you need to hunt Whale for 4 Blubber.

Seashell Suit
Allows you to swap with Blubber Suit at any time, has damage absorption and protects against poison.

However, you cannot use Backpack while wearing them.

Sleek Hat
Can be crafted at Tier 1, but you need a Shark Fins (12.5% drop rate from Sea Hound). Sleek Hat increases movement speed by 25%, which is good at Tier 4.

[Tier 3 Equipment]
Ham Bat, Sea Sack, Sleek Hat, Dumbrella, Horned Helmet
At this stage, you will be using Pig Skin for Ham Bat.

Feed 4 Monster Meat to a Wildbore, it will turn into Werepig, kill it and loot 1 Pig Skin and 2 Meat, which can be used for crafting Ham Bat.

Kill Water Beefalo to get Horn (33% drop rate) and craft Horned Helmet, with this you will no longer need Seashell Suit or Football Helmet.
Note, don't kill all Water Beefalo, because you will still need Horn to craft again in future.

Sea Sack slows down spoilage, is good for bringing food while travelling, it also slow down the spoilage of Ham Bat if you keep it inside.

Dumbrella is the ultimate solution for rain & lightning.

Both Sea Sack and Dumbrella requires Shark Gills, which you can get from killing Sharkitten and/or Tiger Shark. But be careful as harming Sharkitten will summon Tiger Shark, if she is alive.

[Tier 4 Equipment]
Cutlass Supreme, Walking Cane, Booty Bag, Cactus Armour, Sleek Hat, Dumbrella, Horned Helmet

The luxury stage when you have abundance of everything and ready to jump world.

For Cutlass Supreme, kill a Swordfish

For Walking Cane, find Steamer Trunk in ocean or gamble at Slot Machine

For Booty Bag, kill Quacken (Have a chance to spawn when using Trawl Net at deep sea)

For Cactus Armour, kill Elephant Cactus (you can lure Dragoon to kill it for you)
